Since 2003, Mimic has enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with Intuitive Surgical®. Mimic has licensed Intuitive Surgical technology in order to create a highly realistic da Vinci® simulator. This included technology related to the robot kinematics, instrument design, vision display, multimedia content, and the da Vinci API. In fact, the virtual representation of the robot and instruments were created from the original CAD files used to manufacture the real da Vinci robot. Through our continued partnership with Intuitive Surgical, Mimic hopes to introduce our customers to new da Vinci technology in the virtual world soon after such technology becomes available in the real world.
da Vinci® Si Skills Simulator
Mimic has been working with Intuitive Surgical to integrate Mimic's simulation software with the da Vinci Si Surgeon Console. The result is the da Vinci Skills Simulator which is now for sale through Intuitive Surgical. Most of the exercises found in Mimic's dV-Trainer can also be found in Intuitive's Skills Simulator, however many exercises have been adapted to emphasize various features that differentiate the da Vinci S and Si models.
