Pelvic Trauma

Mimic was recently awarded a TATRC grant to create an affordable two-handed haptic system that can be used for open surgery simulation. The system will include a glasses-free stereoscopic display that will co-locate virtual 3D anatomical models with surgical tools held by the user. To create the look and feel of open surgical procedures, Mimic will apply its patent pending tension-based hardware design and its proprietary real-time finite element software engines to enable realistic interaction with virtual soft tissue. This groundbreaking simulation platform will be demonstrated through a Wound Trauma Simulator, which has the potential to help train medical personnel to treat projectile wounds to the pelvis.
