Laparoscopy
Mimic is working with a variety of companies who have an interest in integrating Mimic’s haptic technology into their own applications. Mimic has collaborated with one medical simulation company on a prototype system to explore the use of tension-based haptics in laparoscopic simulators.
Mimic has developed a laproscopic system that has proved unique in that surgical instruments can be freely inserted and removed from entry ports rather than remaining secured to haptic components. This allows the utilization of multiple tool types as appropriate for actual laproscopic procedures.
